The Assessor
The
Assessor™ is an
online survey, data collection, teaching and analysis tool. It
captures data via the web, for later analysis.
It is extremely flexible, you can set up, collect and analyse
information reliably linked to multiple respondents both internally
and externally. It has sophisticated conditional branching
capability and an extremely subtle weighting scheme to refine the
responses across many nested subsets of respondent.
Respondents may be anonymised, from the point of view of the
examiner, to any level of respondent set - for example, a
department or postcode may be identified, but not the specific
individuals therein. The data can be 'instantly analysed' using
predetermined and formatted reporting templates, or passed to more
sophisticated engines such as spreadsheets - or to very
sophisticated niche or internally developed statistical
engines.

Ongoing Development
We are continually improving
the Assessortm for our clients. Our
development team is responsible for all database and application
development, online web design and development as well as reporting
capabilities.
The Assessortm is architected and designed using
Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SSRS. All data access is via
webservices which allows our clients complete freedom of choice in
their reporting and BI environments.
Robust
The Assessor™ is based on sound statistical
principles and uses sampling methods that produce data within 95%
confidence limits to provide consistent and comparable
outputs. These outputs can then be used to assess subsequent
change and show trends over time.
This robust methodology ensures that
- the correct organisational audience is targeted during either a
once-off survey or across multiple reruns or campaigns over
time
- statistical analysis of the collected data is available as
standard
The Assessor™ also includes comprehensive management
capabilities such as automated response tracking, email
notifications, report generation and data export.
Operations
The primary mechanism of data collection is through campaigns
which are set up by moderators and have specified start and
end dates. Each campaign consists of multiple sections each
containing one or more questions and question types. Delegates
are made aware of the campaign through email (and are reminded if
they haven't completed the questions within a configurable
time period) and directed to uniquely identifiable survey
online pages.
Realtime
All responses are recorded efficiently in realtime. This allows
the moderator to have an accurate picture of the state of any
inflight test, exam, campaign or assessment.
An added feature of the Assessor is the PreterLex Dither
Index™ which can be switched on to track discrete movements of
individual sliders on the interface. This has been used to support
the data gathering around moral and ethical type
questioning.
Freedom
The design of the Assessor™ is content
agnostic - this means that it works irrespective of the
content of the questions. Some example applications of the
Assessor™ include capability and maturity assessments
(architecture, governance etc.), employee and user feedback,
360° reviews, ratings, current state assessments, customer
feedback and voting engine that is well suited user responses
where a sliding scale rather than simple radio buttons, yes/no
boxes and check boxes.
Reuse
All questions and answers, definitions, descriptions are
reusable across many test, exams and campaigns. This allows
you to spin up quickly with new clients or new projects.
Built-in sampling functionality enables subsets of large
questionnaires to be randomly addressed to randomly selected
(sub)populations of respondees to 'build' reliable comparative
progress measures over time to predictable levels of precision.
Flexibility
The Assessor™ also supports test and exam scenarios
with automatic marking. This is further enhanced by its
'mentoring' capability which allows the student or delegate to
interact with the moderator without having to resort to
email.
Reporting
The Assessor™ data is made available via web services
to SQL Server Reporting Services. This allows you to control report
content, report creation, who has access to reports, report
subscriptions, data extractions for fourther analytics etc.
all using standard Microsoft® technology.
Scalability
The Assessor™ was designed to meet our own consulting
needs but has matured into a product that has been used to
target over 16000 people in a single campaign.
